Making joint use of knowledge – wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee (wvib Maschinenbau-Beirat) meets at MAFAC

At the end of June, the members of the wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee convened at the MAFAC Customer Centre (MCC). Roughly 20 committee representatives followed the invitation to compare notes on the topics of sustainability and energy efficiency in the production of capital equipment.

“The sustainable creation of value is going to gain increasing importance even for capital equipment,” - is the certain opinion held at MAFAC. And with this statement, the managing directors Armand Oostendorp and Stefan Schaal set off to welcome the guests and to present the company MAFAC and its sustainability concepts. The new Customer Centre offered both an ideal environment for the visit of the wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee, of which MAFAC is also a member, and for the intensely debated topic of sustainability: The building was inaugurated about a year ago and is a trendsetting example for the CO2-reduced operation of building, supply and production engineering. Core of the MAFAC MCC is the elaborately equipped learning and modelling factory, where the savings potentials of MAFAC machines are demonstrated by MAFAC and can be experienced during a live process.

Holistic energy concept for future climate neutrality
“Building services and machine park are linked together in this building. This enables us to convey two things to our customers on the example of the MCC. First, the way our technology modules influence the resource-saving operation of a production facility. Second, the effects an intelligent recycling of residual heat and waste heat can achieve,” managing director Stefan Schaal explained to his fellow members of the wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee.

The following discussion illustrated how much interest the mechanical engineering companies invest in the topics of sustainability and energy consumption. Both the presentation of the MAFAC MCC and the talks held gave rise to many interesting impulses and triggered an active exchange of experiences.

The wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee: Driving force when it comes to industry-specific challenges
The wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee is a federation of more than 20 company representatives of the capital equipment industry in Baden-Württemberg. The committee was founded in April 2020 and has set itself the task to attract more public attention to the industry and to build a positive image. In addition, the committee promotes the exchange of experiences among the member companies of the wvib. Apart from the structural change, important topics included the importance of climate protection for mechanical engineering and how to attract and develop qualified specialised staff and junior staff members. During its next meeting, the committee will deal with digitisation in sales and marketing. The meeting will be hosted by ARKU Maschinenbau GmbH in Baden-Baden.

The wvib Mechanical Engineering Advisory Committee met at MAFAC and dealt with the topics of sustainability and energy saving in mechanical engineering, digitisation in sales and marketing and how to attract specialised staff and junior staff members.

Partner Joachim Schwarz explains MAFAC’s contribution to a climate-neutral production, the concepts the company pursues and offers to its customers and the effect achieved by MAFAC technologies for the benefit of a resource-friendly production.
